Collaborations with Included Health, Wellthy and Ovia Health aimed at enhancing health care needs of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan members
Canton, Mass., January 31, 2023 — Point32Health, the parent company of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan, is introducing new services focused on family-centered care to complement their commercial members’ traditional health plan benefits through new collaborations with Wellthy and Included Health, as well as expanded offerings from Ovia Health.
“As a health plan, our focus continues to be delivering high quality care that is both accessible and affordable to our members, but today’s health plan member needs more than preventive care, behavioral health services, pharmacy coverage and emergency facilities,” said Patrick Cahill, president of Commercial Markets for Point32Health. “To truly deliver whole person, integrated care, we need to complement our traditional medical plan designs with additional services and unique resources from trusted experts that support each member’s health care journey and individual needs.”
The new resources are aimed at addressing the unmet needs of caregiver well-being, health care navigation for the LGBTQ+ community, family planning and growth, as well as women’s health. These collaborations are intended to deliver additional care and services to health plan members seeking to grow, build or nurture their families, no matter how that family is defined. Beginning in January 2023, the Company will offer the following programs at no additional cost to fully-insured commercial members of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan:1
Included Health will provide a diverse range of care navigation and resources to health plan members with LGBTQ+ related needs. Over ninety percent of the team within Included Health’s LGBTQ+ Health navigation team also identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community allowing them to serve as trusted advisors and deliver more authentic support to each individual and family they serve. Whether a health plan member is seeking a culturally-affirming primary care provider or exploring gender affirming surgery, Included Health is equipped to help health plan members live their most authentic lives – by supporting physical and behavioral health care needs through guidance to in person and virtual care access, as well as benefits navigation and advocacy . Compared to their non-LGBTQ+ peers, LGBTQ+ people are at an increased risk of health threats (such as stigma, discrimination, or violence) and will often avoid or postpone needed medical care, resulting in worse health outcomes (source).
Wellthy will deliver a wide array of services aimed at caregivers, to protect their own health and unburden them from the administrative and time-consuming tasks of caregiving. Wellthy combines a robust digital experience with human expertise to help individuals and families plan and organize care, get things done, and connect with other caregivers. Health plan members are matched with a Care Coordinator who provides hands-on support with tasks like locating care facilities, screening home health aides, researching childcare options, keeping families informed, and much more. Challenges resulting from under-supported caregiving roles are increasingly recognized as a public health issue (source). And, studies have shown that caregiver support services can help to reduce depression, anxiety and stress.
Ovia Health will continue to offer a personalized support health platform, comprised of several dedicated mobile apps, designed to prevent adverse outcomes for couples trying to build a family, support healthy pregnancies and overall parenting, and more recently, mature women’s health needs. The apps also deliver access to health coaching, self-guided education, and other valuable resources supporting members at different stages of family building and overall health.
Family-centered care is further supported by Point32Health’s robust health engagement platform and wellness program, Living Well, designed to help commercial members maintain their best self each day through virtual programming, health coaching, community-based activities and wellness incentives.
“We believe that reimagining support for families is critical to delivering on our commitment to supporting a member’s whole health,” continued Cahill. “These family-centered care offerings will continue to evolve in the future by adding additional collaborations that deliver other needed services to our commercial members.”
Self-insured accounts should speak with their broker or account representative for more information and eligibility for all programs.
