Our Response to Change Healthcare’s Cybersecurity Incident

We’re pleased to share that processes and connections that were disrupted by Change Healthcare’s Feb. 21, 2024 cybersecurity incident have now been re-established. Change Healthcare, a subsidiary of Optum, interacts with Point32Health and its family of companies — including Tufts Health Plan, Tufts Health Public Plans, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and CarePartners of Connecticut — as a provider clearinghouse, through the use of their Interqual® criteria, and for other services.

Claims timely filing limit and adjustment waiver for providers affected by the Change Healthcare cyber event

In an effort to support providers who utilize Change Healthcare to submit claims via EDI, Point32Health had temporarily waived claims timely filing as noted below. With electronic claims submission connections with Change Healthcare/Optum restored, our standard timely filing and claim adjustment requirements will resume for claims submitted on or after Sept. 1, 2024. Until such time, waivers are in place for the following products:

  • Claims timely filing: for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care commercial, Tufts Health Plan commercial, Tufts Health Public Plans, Tufts Health Plan Senior Products, and CarePartners of Connecticut.
  • Claims adjustments/replacement claims: for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care commercial, Tufts Health Plan commercial, and Tufts Health Public Plans

Note about EDI 278 transactions via Optum

If you had utilized Change Healthcare’s Emdeon product, which Optum has sunset and will no longer be offering, Optum encourages you to enroll with ConnectCenter to facilitate 278 Health Services Review transactions. Or you may wish to utilize another clearinghouse that has a connection with Point32Health.
